Every day, new information is discovered that helps us better understand how our Universe works. Some of this evidence solves mysteries dating back thousands of years. Some evidence offers new theories on how human civilization came into existence. In this season of The Universe: Ancient Mysteries Solved, we'll tackle mysteries such as an American Stonehenge built 500 years before Columbus, and how the Aztec Pyramids helped seal the downfall of the Mayan and Aztec empires. We'll also look at some of the Roman Empires' most iconic structures, and their connection to archeo-astronomy.

Four hundred years ago Emperor Shah Jahan was the most powerful man in the world. The Taj Mahal, in Agra, India was built to honor his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth. The Taj Mahal is one of the new Seven Wonders of the World and considered to be the finest example of Mughal architecture. 20,000 workers toiled to create an astounding feat of engineering, but what we see today is only a fraction of what was originally erected.
