Forged in Fire, an American competition series aired on the History Channel, challenges four new competitors to produce a knife in their own style with a small variety of metal objects to create from. The series, hosted by Wil Willis, consists of a three-round elimination contest to forge bladed weapons, with the final winner receiving $10,000 and the day's championship title. Judged by experts in weapon history and use, the last two people standing must create in their own forge a Moro Kris sword, a blade which dates back to 300BC, in just five days. Filmed in Brooklyn, New York, the set referred to as "The Forge" sets the scene for this suspenseful show with propane forges, power hammers and hydraulic presses, with medical personnel being close by to treat any injuries or other health problems. If the medical personnel suspect that the competitors are unable to continue safely, they will be disqualified. Once each competitor has created their weapon, it will be put through a series of tests including chopping/slashing/stabbing objects such as ropes, ice blocks, animal carcasses and steel car doors. Having to meet a number of criteria's, the smiths battle it out, without their swords, to become the best black-smith.
