Créé à la fin du XIXe siècle par le collectionneur Richard Wallace, ce musée privé de Londres conserve une très belle collection de peintures européennes. On peut entre autres y admirer Le cavalier riant de Frans Hals ou le Portrait de Titus, le fils de Rembrandt. La peinture française du XVIIIe siècle dans sa veine galante et rococo y est particulièrement bien représentée avec, bien sûr, le chef-d'œuvre de la peinture libertine de Fragonard, Les hasards heureux de l'escarpolette.
