Jon Hendricks is one of the architects of 'vocalese'. He replaces instrumental passages of well-known jazz recordings with a sung scat. He also applies this technique to Estival Jazz, where he performs a full double bass solo in a scattering way. He is considered one of the most important vocalists in jazz history.
