Botswanan villissä erämaassa on meneillään julman kuivuuden huippu. Norsumatriarkka johtaa laumaansa muinaisilla poluilla etsien vettä. Kun saaliseläimet kerääntyvät hellien jättien avaamille juomapaikoille, gepardit, leopardit ja kaikenlaiset haaskansyöjät saapuvat myös paikalle. Kaikilla niistä on omat aikeensa, mutta sama tavoite. Selviytyminen ei ole koskaan taattua, ja toisen voitto on toisen tappio.
